I am Pro Skater, and love to have more and more Skater boards. Also reviewing all these and writing blog as an expert skater.

I was cruising on my electric skateboard, having a blast flying down the street. I was going so fast that I started to wobble, and before I knew it, I was tumbling through the air. I hit the ground hard and felt a sharp pain in my ankle. My skateboard lay next to me, still going full speed.

Speed wobbles are caused by excessive speed or uneven weight distribution on the board. I was going too fast for my good, and I didn’t have a proper grip on the board. So after this incident, I plan to do proper research on how to avoid electric skateboard speed wobbles.

Here we will look at why speed wobbles happen and how to avoid electric skateboard speed wobbles. After reading about my experience and research, you’ll know how to avoid them in the future like a pro! Also, guide what to do if you find yourself in a situation where you are experiencing speed wobbles.

Causes of Electric Skateboard Speed Wobble

There are many reasons why an electric skateboard can start to wobble. One of the most common reasons is that the board is going too fast. It occurs when the board reaches a certain speed. Several possible causes of speed wobble include loose trucks, uneven weight distribution, and worn-out bearings.

Other causes can be lack of proper grip, incorrect stance, and going over bumps or uneven surfaces.

How to Avoid Electric Skateboard Speed Wobbles

Fortunately, you can do a few things to avoid speed wobbles. These will save you from taking a tumble as I did. Below are some tips on how to avoid electric skateboard speed wobbles:

Tighten Loose Trucks

The first thing you can do is make sure that your trucks are tightened properly. Loose trucks are one of the most common causes of speed wobbles. Your board will be more likely to wobble if your trucks are too loose. You should check your trucks periodically to make sure they are tight.

You can tight it by using a wrench or a screwdriver. Just make sure that the trucks are not too tight because this can also cause problems.

Larger wheelbase

Speed wobbles also occur when the board’s wheels start to shake uncontrollably, making it difficult to keep control of the board. One way to avoid speed wobbles is to ensure that your board has a large wheelbase.

The wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear wheels, and a larger wheelbase provides more stability. It’s also important to ensure that your wheels are inflated to the proper pressure. They’ll start to wobble at high speeds if they’re too soft.

Ride slow and Make a slight turn

Once you get comfortable with your board and its feel, you can start to go faster. Slow riding at the start is also the best way to avoid getting speed wobbles. If you are going too fast, it is more likely that your board will start to wobble.

Also, when you are going around a turn, make sure to take it slow and make slight turns. It will help distribute your weight more evenly and prevent the board from wobbling.

Don’t Panic

Many riders mistake panicking when they start to experience speed wobbles. It can cause you to lose control of your board and worsen the situation.

If the board does start to wobble, don’t panic! Simply slow down and turn slightly until the wobbling stops.

Correct foot placement

Foot placement is critical when riding an electric skateboard. Many beginners mistake placing their feet too far forward on the deck, which can cause speed wobbles.

To avoid this, be sure to keep your feet slightly behind the center of the board. It will help you maintain stability at high speeds and keep the board from wobbling.

Additionally, be sure to distribute your weight evenly across the deck. Placing too much weight on one side of the board can also cause speed wobbles.

Final Thoughts

After implementing all the above tips, I never experienced speed wobbles again on my electric skateboard. Now that you know how to avoid electric skateboard speed wobbles, you can enjoy riding your board without worrying about taking a spill. Always prefer your life as safety comes first.

Happy skating!
